The HIET library aims at providing access to its printed resources such as books and journals for the use of faculty and staff. Its holdings should reflect their interest largely. The library present stock available now in HIET is 14,000 books and also to add books in library as prescribed by the DOTE and AICTE norms. The library is also currently subscribed 77periodicals every year. The library is supervised by the Librarian and assisted by assistants also.
The day to day running of the library is conducted by the librarian who is assisted by the library staff. The library holdings will be checked annually by the faculty members and library staff.

Collection Development

HOD’s and Faculty members may recommend the purchase of desired or relevant book or periodical to the librarian. Books and periodicals from vendors on approval is available in the library from time to time. All members are encouraged to peruse the titles in display on the rack.

Circulation of Materials

Members may check-out books during working hours and should sign out the items at the library counter. A faculty member may have a maximum of four books and one book for students. The books are issued out for a maximum of one month for faculty members and two week for students and then they may be renewed 3 times if no reservations on the items indicated.

Current issues of periodicals are issued to read out in the library itself during normal working hours.

Fines will be charged on late return of books to the library. The amount that will be charged will be available with the accounts department and librarian. Amount collected through fines and replacement charges will be used for the library requirements.

Book Stock Section

The cost of replacement with additional handling fee will be charged to the person for loss or damage to the library materials. Any member if determined to have defaced or damaged any library item intentionally will have his/her library privileges revoked for a period of time determined by the library committee. Library privileges may be revoked permanently for multiple or serious offences.

Members must take care of library materials and must not deface them by underlining, writing or drawing in them, by removing any part of them, or in any other way.

Computers in the Library

The library offers at presently 10 User Computers are connected with the HIET network for users to access internet. The computer and internet facilities are provided for academic work only. Users should not use the facilities for non-academic work includes email, web-browsing, etc. Users are not permitted to install any software or programme in any of these PCs.

Photocopying

A photocopy machine is available in the library all the times for use of the faculty, students and staff.

External Users / Visitors

External users from other institutions are allowed to use the library on permission of the Management or Principal.

Code of Conduct

1. No loud conversation or group discussions are allowed in the library.
2. No Laptop and Mobile phone used in the library will be strictly prohibited
3. No food or any eatables or drink is allowed in the library.
4. No one will be permitted to use another member ID no. / name to borrow materials.
5. Do not reshelf books, periodicals, etc. Leave them on the tables properly after use.
6. The library is not responsible for any item left or loss in the library.
7. Do not attempt to install any unauthorised software on the PCs.
8. No students will be allowed to use the library during the class hours.
9. No students will be permitted for roaming, gossiping and playing inside the library.

Digital Library

We have high end configuration systems with fast access digital library.

  • Library is kept open on all working days from 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
  • Every student must possess his/her library card while making use of the library facility and produce the same to the librarian while borrowing the books from the library.
  • Strict discipline and silence must be maintained in the library. Indiscipline may lead to disciplinary action and the library privileges may be withdrawn.
  •  One Library card will be issued for each student.  The books will be issued against the library card only.
  • Loss of library card should immediately be intimated to the Librarian in writing.  Duplicate card will not be issued for one month after such reporting.  A fine of Rs. 100/- shall be charged towards the issue of the duplicate card.
  • Reference materials and Periodicals should not be taken outside the library.
  • When books are issued, students should check the pages of issued books and if pages are found missing they should report the same to the Librarian before leaving the counter.  On returning the books, if pages are found missing, then the last borrower of the book shall be held accountable for the missing pages or lost and he/she has to replace the book or pay double the charges of the latest edition of the same book.
  • Students are advised to handle books and reading material very carefully. Earmarking the books with pencil or ink, tearing the pages or spoiling the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously.  In such a case, the last reader will be held responsible unless he shows the Librarian at the time of issue that the book had been previously marked or damaged.  In the every damage of any kind, the last reader will be liable to compensate for the damage cost.
  • It has been observed that some of the students do not return the library books on or before the due date stamped on the date slip attached in the book depriving other students.  In order to prevent such students from keeping library books with them beyond the due date the fine will be charged.
  • No dues certificate the purpose of getting hall ticket for the final semester examination will be issued only after the surrender of Library cards and the library books borrowed.
