Best VG-TAP Institute Award 2013

HIET Polytechnic College, Padappai was awarded the ‘Best VG- TAP Institute Award 2013’ by M/S Volkswagen group sales India Pvy.Ltd in appreciation of outstanding performance at the VG – TAP Conference held at Volkswagen Training Academy Pune on 20th feb 2014.
Prof.M.C.Sampath, Principal HIET Polytechnic College and E.V. Surendran Training Officer and VG-TAP Coordinator received the Prestigious award from Mr. Ragavendra Kulkarni, Director Volkswagen Training Academy.

VG-TAP (Volkswagen Technical Apprenticeship Program) is a partnership between Volkswagen and HIET, where the skill levels of faculty and students have to be upgraded to industry standard. VG-TAP involved setting up of training labs and Volkswagen equipments to train the final year diploma students in car servicing, thus making them industry ready in the workshop itself. All the civil work for the centre in Chennai was taken care by HIET, while VW supplied engines, gearboxes, measurement tools and diagnostic tools for the students to train. VW has also donated a Jetta to the lab for the students to get “hands on training”. The students are trained by two HIET Professors who are certified by VW. They’ve undergone a month – long training programme at the VW training centre in Pune and certified to that effect. The trainers are in charge of training a batch of 15 students for an hour everyday on the nuances of vehicle servicing. Thirty of the 110 students in their third year of the automobile technology diploma attended the preliminary tests held by officials from VW, out of which 15 were shortlisted for the year-long programme.

Inauguration of 3rd Batch

The inaugural function of the 3rd batch of VG-TAP Programme was held on 3rd October 2013 at Dr.K.C.G Verghese seminar hall, HIET Polytechnic Campus padappai

The meeting was presided over by Prof. M.C Sampath, Principal HIET Polytechnic College. Mr. Swami das Nadar Service manager, Gurudev motors was the chief guest. In his keynote address the chief guest stressed about the need for systematic training to succeed in the Automobile service Industries He also explained about the career path available for the VG-TAP students after the completion of the course. The chief guest presented mementos to the HIET VG-TAP Trainers Mrs. Anuradha in charge Automobile dept. Proposed vote of thanks.

We would like to mention here that about Twenty five students who have undergone the VG-TAP Programme (Batch -I & Batch-II) are employed with various Volkswagen dealers in Chennai and their performance is well appreciated by the Volkswagen dealers

HIET VG-TAP Students Undergoes Field Training

Diploma Automobile engineering students attending the VG-TAP Programme (20 Students) has undergone 1-week field training at Volkswagen training centre HIET Padappai. Mr. Jibu trainer from Volkswagen regional training centre Bangalore conducted the training programme.

The students have undergone theory & hands on practical in Autoelectrical, ELSA pro & ODIS (Computerized diagnosis & Trouble shooting) and are very much satisfied with the training programme.

Volkswagen Campus Interview

M/s Volkswagen Group Sales Pvt Ltd has conducted a campus interview for our VG-TAP students on 26.06.2014 at our campus. Officials from M/s TVS Motors, M/s ABRA motors and M/s Capital Honda came for the campus interview.

Mr. Suveer Koul, Regional Manager, Volkswagen, coordinated the campus interview. 16 Students of the VG-TAP Batch 3 attended the interview. The interview was over only by 6 PM. All the 16 Students are short listed by the dealers and their call letters are expected in one week time.
